Film at Eleven...

Friday, February 1st, 2002

Well, after about two months of inactivity, Macintroid has been updated. Now settle back in for another two months of inactivity. This was (and is) due to the immense success of my VAS (http://www.geocities.com/basicman10549), which has pulled in a good deal of the hits that Macintroid now has. In honor of our 1,000th visitor, I've removed all of the VAS files from this site and replaced them with a link to the new VAS. I also went around and removed the phrase "*New*" from the discriptions of all downloads that have it. I don't think that I will update this for a while, but e-mail me (see contacts page) if you have any suggestions for me. Then, I'll get up off my fat butt and add it to Macintoid. But untill then, happy emulating!

Well, I've been so busy that I don't have much time to update Macintroid. I'm also having a problem finding new titles on the Web. I mean, Macintroid now has a pretty big library with 23 68k-compatable Mac applications, 2 bootable disk images, 1 VAS disk image and HFV Explorer. That 27 downloads! I've also added screenshots in recent months as well as a new link (check it out!).

Due to technical difficulties at Tripod (they usually can't upload large files) and technical difficulties at home (my BIOS needs to be updated and my CD-ROM is eating my CDs and needs to be repaired) as well as work obligations, I cannot update Macintroid as much as I would like to. I'm sorry for the inconvience.

Furthermore, I would like to express my heartfelt apologies to those who were affected by the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. My heart goes out to all of you. We have been affected hard here in Mount Kisco. We are 50 miles from New York and on a clear day, from one hill in neighboring New Castle, you could see the Trade Center faintly. Many families up here had loved ones who worked in or around the World Trade Center. Everybody up here was either affected directly, or knows someone who was. A family friend of ours as well as a neighbor are part of the rescue efforts. I encourage you to donate money or blood to the American Red Cross.

I found out today that Macintroid is listed on Dmoz: The Open Directory Project, a list of the best sites on the internet. It was the only listing I applied for. I then, subsequently, found that Lycos has us in their database (no surprize; they host us), as well as Yahoo!, Google and a couple of smaller sites. I found Macintroid on Yahoo! by typing it into the search query, but could not find it by the categories or queries I searched when I was a Mac Emulation newbie, so I reapplied for a listing in that category.

Seeing that I am listed in several search engines, and still nobody sends me e-mail to prove that anybody is visiting Macintroid, I finally added a counter (that's why the number is so low).

New promotion! Since Tripod's counter is apparently nonexistant, I have now idea of how many people that I'm helping. If you have any questions, comments, stories of how this shie has helped you, etc., send me an e-mail. Those that e-mail me will recieve a HyperCard stack I wrote (and may very well recieve another one in the future). Download HyperCard 1.2.5 to view it. Hey, if you made your own stack, e-mail that to me, too!

E-Mail me here!

Oh, @#&$! Today, while surfin' the net, I stopped by one of my favorite sites, Emaculation.com (link on Links page). There, while scrolling the news section, I came across an article from a few days ago, where I saw someone quoting my greeting from the Home page and a link to my page. The irony was that this morning, I had e-mailed the author of the site, asking him to review Macintroid, not knowing that one of his friends already had. It also let me know that I'm not the only person to visit Macintroid...

See the review (and my shocked comment) here...

See Emaculation.com here...

I also added a Macintroid News page and a Coming Attractions today.

Added a page today on how to add a Mac executable or a file to a disk image.
